Edwin Cordoba
Director of Instrumental Music

Mr. Cordoba serves as the Director of Instrumental Music at Acalanes High School in Lafayette, CA. He is responsible for teaching the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Pep Band, directing the musical pit orchestra, teaching AP Music Theory and facilitating the chamber music program. 

 

Before coming to Acalanes, Mr. Cordoba taught at Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton, CA and at Americas High School in El Paso, TX. Throughout his career, Mr. Cordoba's marching, concert and jazz bands have earned consistent high marks at festivals and many of his students have advanced to the TMEA and CBDA All State Bands and Orchestras.

 

Mr. Cordoba received a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Music Education (both with concentrations in instrumental music) from the University of Texas at El Paso, where he was awarded Outstanding Senior in Music Education in 2015. He holds affiliations with CMEA, NAfME, CBDA, CODA and is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

 

As an active performer, Mr. Cordoba has performed with the Bluecoats Dum and Bugle Corps, Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps, and has had professional trombone appointments with the El Paso Wind Symphony, the Juarez Symphony (Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico) and a salsa group in El Paso named "Sobredosis Del Sabor".

 

Mr. Cordoba resides in San Francisco, CA with his partner Aaron and their golden doodle, Oliver.
